Highly disapointed with JLCPCB

We've been using JLCPCB for 3 years and we spent between $50K to $100K on orders. We use them mainly for ease of ordering, online quotes, relative speed in production and low cost. So far so good. Until they make a mistake.
Regardless how clear is the mistake, they will not assume any responsibility and blame the customer. On our last order of 400 PCBs, we had an unspecified component in the BOM. This item had only one field description, 2x20 Header. In all our previous jobs, when this component was left in the BOM, they would send an email asking what to do. This time they decided to pick a component at random, i.e. a simple male header, and install it.
Removing the component is a nightmare. It costs more than the whole assembly job.
The job cost was about $2,000, JLC blamed us for not supplying the part number (this is a custom part which we order from a factory, no part number) and offered $20 credit. That is 1% of what we paid them.
We just placeed our next order elsewhere.

excellent quality and speed

I have ordered three small boards for IoT use and have found the service and quality of the products to be remarkable, dependable and quick. When I submitted my design they had a modification to add rails for 'standard production' back to me within the hour. The boards arrived 4 days early, and I have tested all 5 of this last run, and found them flawless in function.

I used EasyEDA pro this time, to try to avoid the library issues with Kicad and found it easy to learn and use.

Bad service and quality

They offer you 20 USD in coupons and you end up paying 100USD or more in the end.

When you make PCBA, stay out of JLCPCB, they will end up adding "secret costs" like special baking services that they did not requested on previous orders with the same products. They will take longet to complete your order and in the end they will contact you back once they miscalculated a shipping cost asking for more money (who does that!?). Not only that, if your PCBA has quality deffect because of components, they end up refunding the amount they want, very unfair. I won't use that service at all anymore

Excellent

Translation: Great service at a competitive price.

I have more than forty orders from them; if a problem is detected, (especially in 3D) they send a request for clarification.

Superb productions (pcb or 3D).

For the rest, nothing to complain about, fast shipping (allow 10 days for France) careful packaging

Diligence appreciated

I had an error in my small batch PCB board and the team checked in with me and corrected the error for me. This is probably my 10th order from them, always happy with the result. Really appreciate their diligence.

Please, use caution.

I have ordered multiple boards from JLCPCB, and while many are excellent, my latest order does not work. I have worked for weeks with their customer support by submitting a ticket, and have tried and proved at every point that the defect is on them.

I am not an engineer. I am not a corporation. I am a hobbyist who spent a lot of money to trust an organization who does not take responsibility for their product and puts the burden of proof on the customer.

I understand completely that there is troubleshooting necessary to prove a faulty product, but the list of requests made by the engineering team is beyond what I am capable of doing, and extreme.

Their requests included:

Removing what they assumed was a faulty piece using either a rework station or other method and replace it. Most people don’t own a rework station, but I purchased one to perform their test, as they are the experts. Again, this was my own out-of-pocket expense.

Remove every soldered piece and check for trace faults. My board has over 100 components, which the time it would take with a rework station is far too much. However, if I were even able to have the time and skill to perform this, I have no idea how to perform a full trace analysis. And, again, if the company did not assume responsibility and told me the boards were working, I have just wasted a $60 board with no way of fixing it.

Check each component using a multimeter. I was able to get a multimeter for not a high cost, but again this is time and money out of my pocket. And I did it. On five boards with over 100 components each. I did not find any fault in the components, which leads me to believe it is the board itself.

The most frustrating thing is I have ordered two identical boards previously which worn flawlessly. Same files, same parts, same company. If there was an issue with the files uploaded, then that is a problem that JLCPCB created.

I want to reiterate I am not an electrical engineer. I have had to purchase, stupidly on my part, over $200 worth of replacement parts and specialist tools for testing they required, not to mention the 10+ hours I spent diagnosing issues at their demand.

At this point have not only lost the $300 which I originally purchased the boards for, but I have also lost the money I could have used to replace them.

This customer support has been great at communicating with me and actually listening, but the company overall has not. I highly caution three things before ordering from JLCPCB:

1. Know 100% your product. Mine is part of an open source project that has produced many, many pad orders from this company. This is not a one off, failed project. This is the failing of JLCPCB to take responsibility.

2. Be prepared for massive pushback if you do find a fault. I simply asked for replacements. What I received was blame and suspicion, as well as weeks worth of frustration and anxiety.

3. Have the money for a backup. If my experience is the norm, they will not work with you, despite proving the product does not work, unless you can find their fault. There is no ownership in their errors or work.

I hope this review helps others. I know there are other PCB manufacturers, and at this point I recommend looking elsewhere for your manufacturing.

Poor Experience: Delays, Ineptitude, and Lack of Responsibility

I ordered several Global Sourcing Parts for PCB assembly from JLCPCB, expecting them to fulfill their promise of acquiring the parts within 9-15 days. Unfortunately, the experience has been highly disappointing.

While some of the parts were promptly ordered from suppliers like Mouser on the same day, there was one crucial part, essential for the board assembly, that was not ordered. Surprisingly, Mouser had the part in stock, so it's perplexing why JLCPCB didn't include it in their order.

Despite my early communications with JLCPCB via chat end email, where I specifically highlighted the remaining parts they needed to acquire, the situation was poorly handled. As days passed, the part eventually became unavailable, with a lead time of several months.

After 3 1/2 weeks of waiting, JLCPCB informed me that they would be refunding the cost of the main part. However, this refund is of little consolation since without the part, my board cannot be assembled.

The ineptitude displayed by JLCPCB in acquiring the necessary part has caused significant delays and complications in my project, which could have been easily avoided with proper attention and responsibility.

Overall, my experience with JLCPCB has been highly unsatisfactory. Their failure to fulfill their promises and take responsibility for their mistakes is deeply concerning. I urge others to be cautious when considering JLCPCB's Global Sourcing Parts for their PCB assembly needs.

Questioning bad reviews

I have read many of the reviews on this platform and am having a hard time believing those that are trashing this company. I am a professional hardware engineer with over 30 years in design and manufacture of PCBs. During this time, I have learned that there are a lot of design details that when missed can result in poor manufacturability of PCBs as well as poor reliability of SMT assemblies. Most of the issues I have seen from PCBA houses, both domestic and overseas are the result of the PCB designers. There are an innumerable list of tiny details that can contribute to low yield, or long term reliability of PCBAs. In all of the negative reviews I have read, I have yet to read one that states the qualifications of the the PCB designer, and whether the same PCA was subsequently successfully fabricated by another board house without changing the design. I have PCB design experience with Altium Designer, Mentor Graphics Expedition, PADs, Eagle, Easy-PC and most recently with EASY-EDA, and I can assure you that as easy as PCB layout appears to be, creating a design that is truly manufacturable is not as easy as some would have you believe. Additionally, if your only only education in PCB design is from watching YouTube, then you just beginning your path to good design.

My experience to date has been excellent with JLCPCB . No issues with the fab or with the assemblies. I use both EASY-PC and EASYEDA pro and ensure that all all design parameters are well within the capabilities of this manufacturer. To date, I have not been disappointed. They have flagged component library issues as small as 0.2mm, and have corrected placement as necessary in the DFM reports I have received. From my perspective I would highly recommend JLCPCB for your PCB and PCBA needs.

I will acknowledge that I have not have any issues, so am unable to comment on how they handle them, but I have read through their terms and conditions very carefully, and know that if I submit a design that is not in compliance with their capabilities and requirements that they are allowed to cancel my order. For those of you who are still leery, I suggest you select the option to pay for your boards only after the design has been reviewed.

I wish you all the best of luck.

Reliable and Affordable

I have been using JLCPCB for a couple years during which I've had about about 2,000 boards made of many different unique designs and have not once had a problem. Production is extremely quick and is usually finished within 3 days of placing the order, regardless of solder mask color (of course green does have the fastest production time, usually less than 2 days). Their website is easy and intuitive and in my opinion it uses the best system to upload gerber files and submit to order. The quality of the boards is excellent, especially considering the price. I have always used DHL for shipping and my order arrives to me in California very fast, usually about 3 days from shipment notification. I have never used their assembly service but for PCB production they are great.

Fantastic service on PCBs & 3D.

Ordered PCBs from them 4 times, 3D prints once, and have a PCB order (3 individual PCBs currently printing- a 4-layer and 2 2-layers.)

Always had fantastic service. On my first order I accidentally made vias to small- they warned me about an extra cost, and changed the vias for me themselves when I said that I'd rather not. On my latest (current) order I used a part from EasyEDA and added via-in-pad, but forgot to change the hole size to be thinner than the pads: a support representative emailed me the second the working day there started and asked if they could adjust the via-in-pad diameter to be reduced by 0.1mm- I agreed- and they did it themselves, too.

They're dirt cheap compared to other PCB fabs, and their quality is always sublime in my experience. It's my first time with PCBs, and frankly I'm glad they exist (and LCSC is pretty damn good, too- though I haven't used JLC's SMD/SMT service yet, I am planning on it for when I end up with a production run on this PCB that exceeds more than just prototypes.)
